When it comes to the digital transformation of the energy industry, the future is here. Combining big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) is playing a role in all aspects of the energy value chain. From predictive analysis and forecasting to production optimization, to preventive maintenance and HSE risk analysis, actionable data can help improve decision-making and reduce loopholes. The use of real-time and accurate data has changed the way the industry conducts business and interacts with customers.

This evolution has just begun. But soon, the industry will be defined by those who recognize the value of digitalization, build groundbreaking solutions, and bring them to market.

This is why digital transformation is the top priority of the 23rd World Petroleum Congress to be held in Houston from December 5th to 9th. For a long time, the conference has been regarded as the most prestigious event in the industry. By then, energy leaders will gather on the global stage to discuss issues of transformation and innovation.

During the strategy and technology conference, government ministers, CEOs, and other senior stakeholders from all over the world will discuss how digitalization provides opportunities for establishing new business models and sustainable strategies for energy production and delivery.

On the first day of the conference, one of the strategy sessions will focus on best practices and future thinking on how digital technology innovation can change the working environment of the entire oil and gas industry. Chaired by Åshild Hanne Larsen, Vice President of Underground Excellence and Digital at Equinor, Norway, the panel members include Eric Carre, Executive Vice President of Halliburton Global Business Line, USA; Prabh Das, Managing Director and CEO of HPCL Mittal Energy, India; Girish Saligram, USA President and CEO of Telford; and Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of Serbia NIS Gazprom Neft.

In addition, as part of the U.S. plan, panelists including Baker Hughes CEO Lorenzo Simonelli and Chevron Technology Ventures Vice President and President of Innovation Barbra Burger will discuss how the industry uses clever digital strategies to drive business Value chain optimization, the most end-to-end visibility and connectivity. Discuss the commitment to explore tangible value creation and the need to maintain flexibility in the energy transition economy.

Other forums throughout the conference include round tables on topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, 3-D seismic, linear program modeling, and advanced operation process control to increase performance to an unprecedented scale. Many conferences, including the impact of digitalization on the upstream industry, will focus on how to stay ahead in the digital revolution, develop internal capabilities, and train and add new workforce skills.

The 23rd World Petroleum Congress is composed of plenary meetings, panel discussions and round tables. The high-level discussion will focus on five areas: excellence in the exploration and production industry, excellence in the downstream industry, industry innovation and industry excellence, the energy reality of a sustainable future, and people, society, and governance. In addition, delegates will be able to participate in industry insight luncheons and numerous social events.

The showroom will showcase company and energy solutions, including purposeful journeys, an interactive experience inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Also in the exhibition hall, attendees can experience ConocoPhillips' innovation zone, where selected innovators have the opportunity to showcase their latest solutions.
